Inflated Spelling Grades

You may have noticed your child's spelling grade was unusually high on the last grade sheet. I mistakenly entered a regular spelling assignment as an extra credit assignment. Oops! Spelling grades will be back to normal next grade sheet.

Scholastic Book Clubs Online Ordering

Dear Fourth Grade Parents,

I have exciting news. You can now place your Scholastic Book Clubs orders online!

Browse all the great monthly Book Club selections at low prices and order online. Plus, our class earns a FREE book every time a parent orders online.

Here’s how it works:

1. Use the information below to access the Scholastic Book Clubs Web site.

2. Browse the titles with your child and place your order with your credit card.

3. Your order will come to me, and your credit card payment will go directly to Scholastic’s secure server. There’s no need to send money to school.

4. After I submit the entire class order to Scholastic, your order will be delivered to our classroom for your child to take home.

To get started, go to the Web address below and enter our class’s personalized user name and password in the sign-in fields on the right side of the page. Note: You do not need to create your own user name and password.

Dear Parents,

Arrowhead Elementary is continuing the tradition of holding a basket auction during the upcoming Saturday Live event (Sept. 26th). All the money raised stays right here at Arrowhead. Each classroom will be contributing a basket as a group, however your family or neighborhood is encouraged to support our school by donating a basket as well. Be creative and have fun!

Ms. Bakken’s Fourth Grade Class voted on a theme for our class basket. We had a tie for a Halloween basket and a Hunting/Fishing basket. The students would like to make two baskets. I am sure they will both be very fun and creative baskets that will raise a lot of money.

   Have a great weekend,

   Ms. Bakken

Welcome Letter

WELCOME TO FOURTH GRADE!!!!

Dear Parents and Fourth Graders,

Hello! Hope you had a great summer. I am very excited to start the new school year with you. This year is my 13th year of teaching in the Billings area. I consider it a privilege to be at Arrowhead and will do my very best. The fourth grade teachers and I have been busy planning fun and educational activities for our students.

COMMUNICATION - Communication is the key to success in so many places, this is especially true in education. Feel free to write me a note or call me at the school if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year. (281-6201) School information (upcoming events, school pictures etc.) will be sent home in the Tuesday folder. Class work from the previous week will be included as well, please review it together so that there are no surprises at midterm or report card times.

ASSIGNMENT NOTEBOOKS - Fourth graders will be required to use an assignment notebook. They can be purchased at the school for $4.50. Fourth grade is an excellent year to begin organizational skills along with responsibility for one’s work.

CLASS RULES -The students & I will decide on specific rules the first day of school. My broad expectations are:

Raise your hand

Listen carefully & follow directions

Respect others & their space/property

Do your best
