Math Extra Credit

Fourth Graders Have Math Extra Credit Available

Students were shown how to get onto the math book online through my blog today. They have an extra credit opportunity over the next week. They may do Test Preps 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6, 1-7, 1-9 and 1-10. This is a fabulous way to prepare for the first chapter test.

******After this week is done they may do 1-11 and 1-12.

Open House Success

I am so pleased to have met many of you at our Open House last Thursday. For those of you that were unable to attend I will be sending home a hand out in the Tuesday folder. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Saturday Live Basket Deadline Extended

Due to having no school for students on Monday and Tuesday we will extend the deadline to our Saturday Live Baskets until Thursday the 23 of September.

Grade Sheets

Today was the first day of grade sheets!

4th Graders receive grade sheets every Friday.

Please ask your child to see their grade sheet.

Saturday Live Baskets

Mrs. Brownson - our class rep will be sending home a note in the Tuesday folders this week. We will be doing 2 different baskets this year. Please donate to either the "Movie" basket or the "Art for Kids" basket.
The deadline to donate will be the 21st so we can put the basket together and have it on display in the school foyer.

Recycle Your Stray Sock Pile

We need stray socks! One per student in our classroom to use as an eraser for our individual whiteboards.

Math Quiz This Thursday 9/ 9

There will be a math quiz this Thursday 9/9.

The quiz will be over math vocabulary words that were written in math notebooks last week. It will be a matching quiz. The term will need to be matched with the definition/example.

NWEA Testing

There will be NWEA testing next week on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons next week. There will be a test for Reading, Language and Math.
These tests are simply to see where each child is currently at in each of the subject areas.

Chapter 1 Math

This first chapter in our math book is all about place value and money. We will be working on the following vocabulary words:

expanded form
standard form
word form
digits
value
place-value chart
period
rounding
decimal point
hundredth
tenth

Students have the definitions written in their math notebook and they also have a glossary at the back of their textbook.

****A letter went home in the "Tuesday folder" that gives you your child's username and password to access the math book online. There is a link in the top right corner of my blog to get to the web site.

We will be working on standard form, word form, & expanded form.
